2) Complete the Spider Map with an understanding of the main idea and supporting details.

3) Complete your Five W's chart. (Who, what, when, where, why)

4) With the acquired information please create a storyboard with both text and drawing.

5) Use the information from the storyboard and write a brief essay. (The essay must contain a
beginning, middle, and end)

Choose two of the five senses and include them in your paper.

Time and place must be included in the first paragraph.

3) Action worksheet
Cut and paste dialogue, action, and wondering.


You have the remainder of the class to complete your memoir.

Memoir questions

After viewing the attached video, answer the following questions.

Is failure an important part of life? Why?

If you fail at one thing does it mean you are a failure?

Is it important to keep trying even when you feel you aren't good at something? Why?

What do you feel like when you succeed?

What do you feel like when you fail?

Tell about a time you succeeded.

Tell about a time you failed.

What did you learn from the video?

Successes and failures create your life story. The memoir you're writing is a part of your story.

Tool #11

My favorite tool is Glogster. I can create a blog and use it to display daily instruction. For example, memoir writing and mood writing can be presented in video fashion with question and discussion to follow.

My thinking has been transformed in an effort to understand the modern learner. My vision has moved from paper based instruction to the use of technology as a window to a larger world. Constant change will be needed.

There were no unexpected outcomes from this program.

Tool #10

The students need to understand that it is essential to form an opinion for themselves by seeking specific sources on the internet rather than accepting the first site that appears. It needs to be taught that web sites are developed to appear "first on the list." That does not mean they are a solid resource for information and worthy to be included in a persons knowledge base. It means that the teacher must provide links to taught information, explain why these links are essential, and encourage the student to explore various avenues of thought rather than simply lifting information from a random page.

I will use Eduphoria, Atomic learning, and library resources for the students to gain information.

Digital learning can be taught by googling the same topic but obtaining information from different links. I would then model differences and check for understanding.

I would place the lesson for the students on my blog and the parents would have access to digital citizenship information.

Tool #9

The objective is essential to good teaching and technology is essential to the modern students learning.

It is essential to hold students accountable because they will soon be adults that are held accountable.

I enjoy the use of the ipad because it's flexibility. It can be used with the active board, handed out and used to explore the daily news, and to record audio for the ESL students. Students are held accountable by numbering the ipads and having that group turn in the equipment. In addition, they are responsible for charging the notebooks/ipads at the end of class.

I will incorporate video in my blog along with text instruction. The student can view the instructional material and complete the lesson on the blog. Daily lessons can be managed and followed by pairing students or using one computer for groups of three.

Tool #7

As a Resource teacher I will use Skype to discuss a lesson with a 6th grade LA class. We will create a memoir book, as a foldable, and instruct another class as to how to fold and cut the paper. We will then instruct the other class to add "mood" related words to the top left corner of their memoir book. This will serve as a final step toward brainstorming and the final project.

Using todaymeet will enable the instructor to pause during instruction and allow time for the students to post questions and interact with others. Instruction can then be directed according the the needs of the group as a whole. I see this application being used daily.

After going to Mrs. Fraifeld's and Mrs. Edmond's blog, among others, I have learned an enormous amount. It's nice to see various methods within one site to fit individual learning styles.

I can use use this blog as a video dump related to the daily Language Arts lesson.  Students will be able to log on daily and interact with others in the class.
